A Vision of Jesus: The Awesome Jesus of Revelation by R. T. Kendall,
In Revelation Chapter 1 Jesus is described in a vision given to the Apostle John. We are only given sketchy information about what Jesus looked like in human form (from Isaiah), possibly something that God always intended so that we. could focus on the image of Jesus given here. The description given in Revelation 1 verses 12 to 20 is an awesome picture, one that balances the 'Jesus is my Pal' syndrome prevalent in many parts of the church today. Prepare to have your life shaken up as you see Jesus described here. C.S. Lewis wrote in the Narnia Chronicles about Asian, a type of Christ, "of course he's not safe - but he's good". - that is the flavour of this passage. Kendall writes with his customary clarity and directs you to see Jesus in a way you will find humbling. If we are to fix our eyes upon Jesus then this is a great place to stir us to continue his commission.
