Latter Day Saints Record

This book has several days to a page and a few lines under each feast for entering names of friends celebrating namedays, birthdays or other anniversaries. A space is provided at the end of each month for recording addresses. It also offers mini-biographies of almost 500 Saints, tells us the name and feast day of our individual patron, advises which Saints are patrons of places, arts, skills or trades, and includes more than 300 male and female name derivatives.

Northern Britain in the late Anglo-Saxon times was enriched by a flourishing of the Church under the leadership of holy men and women who left enduring traces on their society and landscape. Lindisfarne, Durham, York, Wexham, and Whitby were all important centers of cultural and social influence. The monasteries and communities of these seventh and eighth century saints were to be swept away by the savage attacks of the Viking from 793 onwards. But the colorful lives of Saints Aidan, Colman, Chad, Wildrid, Oswald, Hilda, Cuthbert and others, and the remarkable events surrounding them, were fortunately recorded by Bede and other annalists of the period. The account of their involvement in the power shifts between the Northumbrian royal houses, the struggles of the great ecclesiastical debate around the Synod of Whitby in 664, as well as the wealth of stories and visions, miracles and marvels that filled their lives -- these have all come down to us in the ancient texts. This selection draws on Bede's Ecclesiastical History and other early sources to provide an insight into the inspirational power of these saintly lives in their own day and for times to come.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Strangite) - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as the Strangite church, is a denomination of the Latter Day Saint movement. The Strangite church is distinct from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is larger and better-known, although both organizations claim to be the original church established by Joseph Smith, Jr.
