15 Days of Prayer with Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton by Betty Ann McNeil, This volume, 15 Days of Prayer With Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, introduces readers to the "first American-born saint" and leads them to a place of peace and prayer that reflects the spirituality of the Saint Elizabeth. Follow in the footsteps of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. Elizabeth Bayley was born of a well-to-do family in 1774 and baptized in the Episcopal Church. Married to successful merchant, William Magee Seton, the couple was blessed with five children. Involved in social work and charity, Elizabeth was soon referred to as the "Protestant Sister of Charity." Upon her husband's death Elizabeth converted to Catholicism. Returning to New York, she was no longer accepted in her previous circles and was invited to Baltimore by Bishop Carroll. There, she founded a school and was joined by other women to form the Daughers of Charity of St. Joseph, and was elected the first superior of the order. Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton was canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1975.
