Wright, -- Offers in-depth historical study of the life of Christ -- Presents biblical, informed scholarship -- Functions as an effective introduction to Jesus as well as a resource for those already familiar with his life Is There Really Anything New To Say About Jesus? And if so, could it possibly be true to Scripture and the Christian faith? N. T. Wright, one of the premier scholars investigating the life of Jesus today, thinks we have nothing to fear and much to learn from a historical study of Jesus. The Jesus he unveils has his feet solidly planted in first-century Palestine and yet rings deeply true to the resurrected Christ of Christian belief, worship and experience. This Jesus comes to us as one known and yet unknown, a man with a familiar profile and yet with features we had never noticed. Wright's account of Jesus is sure to grip readers with its clarity and its full accounting of the facts. Wright compels us to rethink our standard images of Jesus so that we will never read the Gospels in the same way again. For those who don't know much about Jesus, this book launches the discovery of a lifetime. For those who do know Jesus, this book unveils exciting new perspectives that clearly echo Jesus' challenge to follow him. For those who have studied nearly everything about Jesus, this book reinvigorates the quest to know Jesus more fully and join in shaping the world as his disciple.
Resurrection of Jesus - According to the New Testament, Jesus was both human and God, so he had the power to lay his life down and to take it up again; thus after Jesus died, he came to life. This event is referred to in Christian terminology as the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and is commemorated and celebrated by most Christians annualy on Easter Sunday. Resurrection of Jesus Christ (by Bartholomew) - The Resurrection of Jesus Christ (by Bartholomew) is not to be confused with the Questions of Bartholomew, although either text may be the missing Gospel of Bartholomew (or neither may be), a lost work from the New Testament apocrypha. Jesus of Nazareth (film) - Jesus of Nazareth is a six-hour, sixteen-minute television miniseries of the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus based on the accounts given in the Christian gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Vision hypothesis - The vision hypothesis is a term used to cover a range of theories that question the physical resurrection of Jesus, and suggest that sightings of a risen Jesus were visionary experiences. As the literal bodily resurrection of Jesus is a cornerstone of Christian belief, the vision hypothesis is controversial and not accepted by many Christians.
