History of the Latter Day Saint movement - The Latter Day Saint movement is a religious movement within Christian Restorationism beginning in the early 19th century that led to the set of doctrines, practices, and cultures called Mormonism and to the existence of numerous Latter Day Saint churches. Its history has been characterized by intense controversy and persecution because of this religion's growth and in reaction to some of the movement's doctrines and practices, which are unique within Christianity (see Mormonism and Christianity).

History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - The early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is shared by the larger Latter Day Saint movement, which originated in upstate New York under the leadership of Joseph Smith, Jr.. With the important assistance of Oliver Cowdery and Sidney Rigdon, Smith dictated and published works of scripture, claimed to be visited by angels, and formed a new church.

Archaeology and the Book of Mormon - Supporters and critics alike have long attempted to use archaeology to support their respective views of the origin(s) of the Book of Mormon. Although the Book of Mormon is considered an inspired sacred text by the entire Latter Day Saint movement, not all Latter Day Saint scholars, or Latter Day Saints, accept the view that the Book of Mormon is an actual history of any Native American people.

Rigdonite - Rigdonite is a name given to members of the Latter Day Saint movement who accept Sidney Rigdon as the sucessesor in the church presidency to movement founder, Joseph Smith, Jr.. The early history of the Rigdonite movement is shared with the History of the Latter Day Saint movement, but as of the 1844 succession crisis becomes distinct.
